The Karen Wray Gallery Group Exhibition entitled, “Wildflowers,” from June 25 through July 25, 2020 showcases artwork created by our wonderful gallery artists, celebrating the world of wildflowers and “not-so-wild” flowers. Due to social distancing requirements and limitations on gatherings, we are not holding an opening reception, but are inviting the public to visit the gallery during regular hours to enjoy the wonderful artistic impressions of nature’s gift of wildflowers interpreted by our amazing local artists!
Never in my wildest dreams (or rather nightmares) have I ever believed that the world could possibly be like the world we are experiencing since February of 2020. Everything seems to have turned upside down and our collective humanity is dealing with an entirely new reality. All of us, all at the same time! We need something, anything that will remind us that our beautiful world still exists, that some normalcy exists. Since we humans have been temporarily relegated to our homes, not sending toxic fumes into the environment, not stirring up mud in the rivers and lakes, Mother Nature has taken a sigh of relief, at least for a while.
Wildflowers have inspired poetry and art, either written or otherwise expressed, for millennia. Just the simple act of describing a particular flower, its shape, its size, its color, its scent, can inspire us to wax poetic! Rather than try to express the beauty of wildflowers using words and language, artists use color or texture to convey their beauty and the emotions they produce to the viewer. From meticulously detailed renderings to abstract splashes of color, artists express their individual emotional response to the wildflower. We invite you to experience the wildflower as seen through artists’ eyes!
The “Wildflowers” Exhibition runs from June 25 through July 25, 2020. The Karen Wray Gallery is open Mondays through Fridays from 11-4pm and Saturdays from 10-4pm and is located at 1247 Central Avenue, Suite D-2, in Los Alamos. Please help us by wearing facemasks, practicing social distancing, and washing your hands. We are delighted to share these beautiful art gems with you!
